Hand Hygiene

  • Wash with soap and water for 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, sneezing, or coughing.
  • Wash hands after touching public surfaces.
  • Alternatively use hand sanitizer (60% or higher alcohol) when hand washing is not a viable option.


  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching high touch surfaces like elevator buttons, door handles, hand rails, handshaking.
  • Avoid touching face, nose, eyes, mouth, etc.
  • Avoid crowds, especially in poorly ventilated spaces.
  • Clean hands often.
  • Use tissue or sleeves to cover hands for needed touching.
  • Stay home as much as possible if COVID-19 is spreading in your community.


  • Clean and disinfect homes and work spaces including light switches, door handles, tables, desks, toilets, faucets, sinks, cell phones, and computer keyboards.


  • CDC recommends People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
