Mission

The mission of the Department of Human Resources (DHR) is to assist the City of East Chicago in meeting the needs of its citizens, by developing a well-trained professional City staff to service the needs of the residents of East Chicago; and to foster a work ethic that displays respect, cooperation, fairness, and a commitment to excellence. The DHR is committed to being a continuous source of assistance, providing quality service and support to all city residents, departments and employees.

Duties

Human Resources (HR) provides the full range of HR services to approximately 600 City employees in a variety of City departments. HR is dedicated to providing services in:

  • Employee Relations
  • Recruitment/Selection
  • Worker’s Compensation
